* The Idaho EMSC Program is currently focusing
it's efforts in both assuring EMS agencies in Idaho are equipped with
appropriate pediatric equipment and pediatric education for prehospital
providers as well as emergency room staff.
o In 2008 twenty-five pediatric jump kits and a little over 100 pediatric
backboards were purchased and distributed to EMS agencies.
o In the summer of 2009, 15 more backboards and 55 jump kits were distributed.
o Between the Spring 2008 and Spring 2009, the Idaho EMSC Program supported six
Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) courses across the state, training almost 100
prehospital providers in emergency pediatric education.
o The EMSC Program plans on continuing to support these courses as well as
offering incentives for instructors to continue to train EPC across the state.
o The EMSC Program will also work with the newly formed Idaho Simulation Network
to provide pediatric simulation training to critical access hospitals across the
state.
